Oceans Film Festival

We look forward to the 2012 Film Fest and to repeating the success of the last two years of Halifax's Oceans Film Festival.  Dates for this year are set for: 6th, 13th and 20th June, and the screening details are just being confirmed. Details will be posted here by mid-May, so please check back then.

In 2011, four evenings of free film screenings were held in collaboration with: CoastalCURA, Dalhousie University's Marine Affairs Program, Ecology Action Centre, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, and Natural History Museum. See below for details, and check this page again for details of the 2012 films, to which you are warmly invited.

The 2011 Oceans Film Festival provided Halifax with an exciting range of different oceans-themed films.  The first evening had a family-friendly focus, with audience members of all ages encouraged to attend. The second was designed not only to educate but also inspire action as the audience was exposed to two contemporary issues affecting ocean sustainability. The third screening showed the work of local film maker Sarah Bood, and the final night brought together several international short films touching on marine management. For details of film titles etc., click on the poster above.

The inaugural Oceans Film Festival was held on 29th - 30th June 2010, organised by IOI-Canada in partnership with the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.  Three oceans films were screened: A Sea Change, Wild Ocean and The End of the Line, with a discussion led by Dr Peter Wells on the BP oil spill (presentation available on request).
